Kumasi-based Vision Academy School emerged winners of a special football competition organized to usher in the maiden Private Schools Sports Fiesta in Ghana.
They took home the giant trophy plus other souvenirs during the launch of the upcoming sports fiesta last Friday in Accra.
The launch of the upcoming Private Schools Sports Fiesta, took place at the Mensah Sarbah Hall football Park, University of Ghana, Legon with a host of important personalities in attendance.
Eight schools, participated in the football tournament with some high class performances put up by the students for their respective schools.
On their way to winning the diadem, Vision Academy School beat United Church School, Nungua, Accra 3-0 in the opening game of the competition.
In the semi-final game, Vision Academy School won 2-1 on penalties against Harmony Cheetah School of Winneba after their encounter ended 1-1 in regulation time.
In the grand finale, Vision Academy School defeated Sons of God School, Adawso-Tinkong 2-0 after scoring in each half to claim the trophy.
Julius Appiah of Vision Academy School, won the best player award with his school also emerging the top scoring team after the competition.
The Sports Fiesta, initially start with six sporting disciplines, athletics, basketball, football, table tennis, taekwondo and volleyball.
The upcoming event will be for private schools at the basic level and, will held at the zonal , district, regional and national level.
It will commence during the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS), week celebrations in March.
The competition will run through and end in May, 2025 where a national event will be held to climax the first edition of this mega event.
It is being put together by Kaysports Ghana Limited in partnership with GNACOPS and insurance company GLICO and, has being dubbed Private Schools Sports Fiesta and GLICO Sportsman Insurance.
